What You Get When You GiveActivating wisdom sometimes requires us to give something back. If we will put some effort into our pursuit of wisdom, we'll find that wisdom has some amazing byproducts to give us: Passion For Wisdom Will Protect and Preserve You Prov 4:6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. When we don't leave the wisdom of God haphazardly alone but long for it with passion and desire, we'll find that wisdom is building a hedge of protection around us. We will eventually have a stronghold that the world can't penetrate. Moreover, it will preserve us in our time of trouble. When we are besieged by the temptations and troubles of life, God is going to supply us with the strength and wisdom to weather the attack. Pursuing God First Results in Greater Insight Into Life Prov 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Wisdom is the first thing we need to desire. Before anything else we look for from God, we need to look to have the wisdom for the day. This wisdom will guide us in where we should go and what we should do. It will keep us in the vein of the Kingdom of God. Being in the vein offers insights (understanding) into life we wouldn't normally see. When we pursue wisdom first, we'll find answers in life we didn't know were there. Prioritize God and He Will Prioritize You Prov 4:8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. God wants to continue to develop us. He has wisdom that will aide us in rising in our calling and our relationship with Him. However, if we don't prioritize the getting of wisdom (i.e. listening to what God has to say), we won't move forward or higher in God. If we will prioritize God, though, we will go to heights we never thought imaginable. Embrace God And He Will Bring You Honour And Influence Prov 4:9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee. The Wisdom of God will bring us to a place of honour when we embrace it into every fabric of our lives. When we think of honour, we think of respect and admiration. When we embrace God's wisdom it will lead us to receive honour from others. This honour will make us more effective as witnesses and servants in the Kingdom of God. Abraham had this honour and he became the father of a nation. David attained this honour and he became the King of God's people. Isaiah had this honour and he influenced kings. We can have the same honour that creates new beginnings, establishes us in a calling and gives us a voice that reaches the ears of the influential. Pulling It All Together Wisdom has some amazing byproducts. The combination of all of these byproducts is a well-rounded and formidable force for God. The person who has attained wisdom at this level now is protected and preserved by God, has a plan for the day and insight into things most others do not, is consistently going to a higher level and is finding honour that breeds results. All of this comes from simply pursuing and receiving wisdom from God.
